5 Ways Art Can Transform Your Home And Your Heart

5 Ways Art Can Transform Your Home And Your Heart

Your home is a reflection of you—your space to express your personality. The art you choose to hang on your walls will affect the atmosphere of your home and the energy that will radiate into every aspect of your life.

When we have young children, we may not spend a lot of time or money thinking about how to decorate our space. However once they become teenagers and no longer going to trample on the couch and throw food at the walls, (well hopefully) then it's a chance to really consider the environment we live in. Because what we surround ourselves with, can have a huge impact on how we feel.

I feel like we have been surrounded by a lot of neutrals lately. And don't get me wrong, I love a good neutral. At the moment though, I am so drawn to creative colourful, vibrant art. Art that makes a statement. Art that brings a playful, creative energy with it. It's fun to create and it's fun to see. And I feel like we can all do with a reminder to be playful and creative.

Here are some great reasons to consider a colourful art piece to transform your space, bringing your own sense of freedom and creative energy into your home.

1. Add a sense of playfulness and creative energy

The art you surround yourself with can affect your mood, and making the choice to include a colourful art piece can bring exciting energy to your space. Are you drawn to a particular colour? One that energises you? Or bold, wild brushstrokes? You know what makes you feel the best, whether that’s a colour, a shape, or a feeling. Bringing your favourite energising colour combination into a space will make you feel like you are energised and alive.

2. Express Your Values

Take the opportunity to choose art that reflects your values and shows what you believe in. Are you passionate about wildlife preservation? Do you advocate for women's rights?  Show your strength and passion through beautiful artwork. Let your walls tell a story about who you are and what is important to you.

3. Add a Pop of Colour

Art is the perfect way to experiment with colour to create balance in a space. A colourful print can liven up a neutral room and bring a fun energy into a moody space. A colourful art piece is a great addition to a colourful home but it can also be a beacon of hope in a neutral space. Are you over boring walls? What sort of atmosphere do you want to create?

4. Experiment with the Abstract

Some people love abstracts and some people just don't get them. To me they are about a feeling and getting lost in a painting. Abstract pieces are an opportunity for you to find your own meaning in a piece of art. There was this time I was travelling in a van and creating on the road and one particular man spent an hour looking at all my paintings and telling me what he could see in them. It's fun when you have people over and they all see or feel something different. Oh the conversations you can have!  No two reactions will be the same. That Is what is so cool about abstracts. I believe making the decision to have an abstract art piece is a brave step. It's a huge stand for creativity, which is always a good thing.

5. Share Your Personality

How much of your personality do you share? Are you an open person in public? In your own home you can go for broke and let your personality shine through with something that really resonates with you. It's a safe way to express your own wild creativity, which I know is inside of you!  Art is where you can find freedom, to feel confident to choose a playful, quirky and carefree piece that speaks to your heart.

No matter what you choose for your home, the MOST important thing is to choose something that you love, tune into what speaks to your heart and find art that brings energy and happiness into your life.

I hope you have found some inspiration here, and good luck on your journey of creating a home with heart and love.
